Join to apply for the UXO Safety Officer role at AECOM. Location: Kuwait City. Onboarding for this assignment is scheduled for November 3, 2025, with deployment to Kuwait shortly after. Pre-hire activities (drug screen, background check, etc.) are to be completed by mid-October 2025. Responsibilities
Meet the criteria for and perform the functions of a UXO-TIII. Implement explosives and health and safety plans and programs in accordance with applicable DoD, federal, state, and local requirements. Ensure compliance with a DoD Military Service- and/or DDESB-approved site plans. Analyze potential risks (operational, explosives safety, general safety) associated with MEC-related activities and develop and implement mitigating measures. Verify compliance with site-specific explosives safety requirements, including: enforcing personnel limits and ESQD arcs for explosive-related operations; conducting, documenting, and reporting daily safety inspections and verifying corrective actions; engineering controls to reduce open detonation minimum separation distance; ensuring heavy equipment operations comply with manufacturer specifications. Make the final safety status determination of discovered MEC with the SUXOS. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Current driver’s license; use of an AECOM provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle for AECOM business Pass pre-employment drug screen Valid US Passport through 11/2026 Complete post-offer, pre-employment fitness for duty exam in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120; medically “qualified” fitness for duty result letter required 40-hour HAZWOPER 8-hour OSHA Supervisor (initial) 10-hour or 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety Current 8-hour OSHA refresher Due to the nature of this project, US Citizenship is required In accordance with the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board Technical Paper 18 (DDESB TP-18), UXOSO shall meet the following minimum qualifications: Graduate of a military EOD assistant course; or accredited UXO technician training course; or military EOD school (US, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, or Australia). On-the-job training including familiarity with MEC-related processes, procedures, and equipment (e.g., geophysical) used for MEC activities. Military EOD graduates: 1 year MEC-related experience; 1/2 year MEC-supervisory experience; 8 years total EOD and MEC experience. Accredited UXO School graduates: 8 years MEC-related experience; 2 years MEC-supervisory experience; 10 years total MEC experience. OSHA 8-hour Management and Supervisor Training Course (OSHA Section 1910.120(e)(4)). Understanding of applicable explosives safety criteria and experience in phases of MEC or range clearance activities. Must have completed a 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Training and earned a Department of Labor Construction Safety Course Completion Card. Preferred Qualifications
It is preferable that the UXOSO also meet the requirements for a SSHO Level 1 in accordance with USACE EM 385-1-1 (2024) Explosive Ordnance Disposal certificate 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety 40-hour EM 385-1-1 Hazard Recognition Training Additional Information
