Reviews supporting documentation in the finance electronic system to ensure proper paperwork is attached, data entry is correct, proper company code is used, and all internal policies and procedures are met. Reviews manual documentation to ensure cost centers and proper signatures are obtained; make necessary adjustments in accordance with internal procedures. Processes daily accounts payable transactions, including preparing and processing invoices and payments, ensuring payments are timely and accurate. Reviews monthly vendor statements; confers with suppliers concerning open items and responds to vendor inquiries; works with vendors to resolve disputes and ensure services are not interrupted. Communicates with Heartland Human Care Services staff and vendors regarding Accounts Payable policies and procedures. Identifies and resolves problems and discrepancies and suggests corrective procedures. Imports monthly expenditures (e.g., telecom, rent, utilities, CCIS payments). Performs duties related to daily, month-end, and year-end close. Assists with special accounts payable projects and prepares disbursements via check and ACH. Researches and provides documentation for audits; supports system maintenance and user access as needed. Performs year-end 1099 vendor processing under supervision of the Accounting Manager. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2-4 years of relevant experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Language: ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents; effective written and verbal communication with stakeholders. Mathematical: ability to perform basic to intermediate arithmetic and interpret data in reports. Accounting: ability to reconcile accounts and determine corrective actions. Computer: proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Excel; familiarity with Financial Edge, Yardi, Payscan or similar accounting software is a plus; familiarity with finance systems, user roles, and troubleshooting. Analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail; proactive in process improvement.

This role is eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement. If hybrid, in-person meetings may be required periodically. May also be available to work from home when appropriate. Work Environment
