Overview
Medical Behavioral Unit Physician position in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Medicine, Medical Behavioral Unit. The inpatient Medical Behavioral Unit (MBU) provides care for children, adolescents and young adults up to age 26 years with eating disorders and nutrition-related conditions, including severe malnutrition. The MBU is a major national referral center and collaborates with the UC San Diego Eating Disorder Treatment Center. The team delivers evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally aware, and confidential care with a multidisciplinary group including psychologists, psychiatrists, dietitians, and behaviorally trained nurses. Physicians work closely with psychologists on the unit to address chronic and complex nutrition-related conditions and co-morbid behavioral or psychiatric conditions. Responsibilities
Provide inpatient medical care for youth with eating disorders and nutrition-related conditions at the Medical Behavioral Unit. Supervise and educate residents and fellows in training; participate in division meetings and program planning; contribute to provider and patient education materials. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and support clinical teaching and research opportunities as available. Be flexible with hours, days, shifts, on-call duties, and location assignments based on 24-hour business needs. Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
MD or DO degree Current California Medical License, or ability and commitment to obtain CA license prior to start date Board Certified in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine Preferred qualifications
Two (2+) or more years of experience in Hospital Medicine or Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Fluency in Spanish and/or other languages Special Conditions
