GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement. Position Responsibilities
Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle Participate in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate engineering quality Utilize programming languages such as Python, C# or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases; container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes; and Azure tools and services Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams Build product definitions and leverage technical skills to drive toward the right solution Qualifications
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design Experience contributing to architecture and design, including patterns, reliability, and scaling In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms Understanding of Azure Portal and related Azure services Understanding of HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, and JSON Understanding of micro-services architecture and REST APIs Understanding of monitoring tools (e.g., Application Insights) Intermediate PowerShell scripting Intermediate understanding of Azure networking, security zones, VNETs, and peered services Understanding of Azure PaaS and IaaS Understanding of security protocols (Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth) Experience with Datacenter structures and Azure native services Knowledge of developer tooling across the SDLC Understanding of DevOps concepts, Cloud Architecture, and Azure DevOps Experience with GIT and version control Experience with GraphDB Experience with Big Data tooling (Hadoop, Hive, Kafka) Experience with load testing tools (Gatling) Experience with troubleshooting tools (Dynatrace, ThousandEyes, Influx, Grafana) Experience with Docker and Kubernetes Understanding of Java fundamentals and Spring Boot Web service APIs (REST, GraphQL) Experience with SQL querying Experience with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Gradle, Artifactory, etc.) Experience with Spark and Scala; familiarity with DSaT MDF Experience with Enterprise Reporting Tools (Qlik or MicroStrategy) Analysis and estimation skills; strong problem-solving ability; strong written and verbal communication Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment Experience
