Overview Position Description for Craven County Schools, New Bern, North Carolina. The Craven County Schools Board of Education is seeking a highly qualified Superintendent to lead the district and support its mission of ensuring success for all students.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development are engaged as consultants in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the School Board in identifying and screening the candidates.

Enrollment Enrollment: 12,400 Students

Location The Craven County School District is located in eastern North Carolina, in close proximity to the Crystal Coast beaches, and is comprised of suburban, rural, and military communities. The district serves the cities of New Bern and Havelock and towns of Vanceboro, Trent Woods, River Bend, Cove City, and Dover and is home to MCAS-Cherry Point.

Salary Regionally competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications

Qualifications

An educational leader with a proven track record of improving student and staff achievement. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of educational research and understanding of how curriculum and instruction work together to improve teaching and learning.

The visionary skills to engage with diverse communities and schools in the district (suburban, rural, and military) and to assess needs of students, staff, and stakeholders to identify efficient and effective strategies.

A proven track record of effective budgetary practices that promote responsible fiscal monitoring and management of all school funds.

Superb communication skills, valuing transparency, and the ability to build trust and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders.

Confidence in decision making and the ability to solve problems using sound conflict resolution techniques, including crisis management knowledge.

Ability to build and sustain strong relationships with all stakeholders to move the school system forward through collaboration, improvement, and achievement of goals.
