The St. Louis County Counselor's Office seeks an

Attorney IV

to join their team. This position will be responsible for management and supervision of certain dockets in associate circuit, circuit and probate courts, administrative matters and a newly implemented rotational program designed at providing professional development of less experienced attorneys in the County Counselor’s Office. The role of this Attorney IV will be to support the development of both soft skills, such as communication, organization and time management, and the hard skills it takes to be a successful attorney. The duties associated with this position may change as the needs of the office change -- such duties will be contained within the general Attorney IV job classification. The starting salary will be between $106,849.60 and $122,000.00 annually, depending on experience and budget. Provide advice, guidance and document review to subordinate attorneys in the County Counselor’s Office related to various matters, including expungement dockets, involuntary commitment hearings, personal property tax collection dockets, third party subpoenas, motions related to record requests, responding to petitions for removal from sex offender registries, and administrative hearings related to dangerous animals. Collaborate with the other managers in the Office in the implementation and execution of a professional rotational program designed to give Attorney I attorneys experience on the different teams in the Office, including the administrative law team, the legislative team, the worker’s compensation/risk management team, the transactional team and the litigation team, in addition to their standing duties as a part of the municipal court team. Mentor the Attorney I attorneys and others in the Office to help them advance their professional development by giving suggestions, feedback and guidance regarding effective communication, organization, time management, adaptability, stress management and problem-solving skills. Manage the Office intern and extern programs. Perform related work as required. Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an American law school accredited by the American Bar Association Current licensure as an attorney by the Missouri Bar Association Seven years of related work experience as a licensed attorney Additional Information

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT:

A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job-related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire. The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision. All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
