The St. Louis County Counselor's Office seeks an
Attorney IV
to join their team. This position will be responsible for management and supervision of certain dockets in associate circuit, circuit and probate courts, administrative matters and a newly implemented rotational program designed to provide professional development for less experienced attorneys in the County Counselor’s Office. The role will support the development of both soft skills (communication, organization, time management) and the hard skills needed to be a successful attorney. Duties may evolve with the needs of the office and will be described within the general Attorney IV job classification. The starting salary will be between $106,849.60 and $122,000.00 annually, depending on experience and budget. Provide advice, guidance and document review to subordinate attorneys in the County Counselor’s Office related to matters such as expungement dockets, involuntary commitment hearings, personal property tax collection dockets, third party subpoenas, motions related to records requests, responding to petitions for removal from sex offender registries, and administrative hearings related to dangerous animals. Collaborate with other managers in the Office to implement and execute a professional rotational program giving Attorney I attorneys experience on different teams (administrative law, legislative, workers’ compensation/risk management, transactional, litigation) in addition to their responsibilities on the municipal court team. Mentor Attorney I attorneys and others in the Office by providing guidance on effective communication, organization, time management, adaptability, stress management and problem-solving skills. Manage the Office intern and extern programs. Perform related work as required. Qualifications
Juris Doctor degree from an American law school accredited by the American Bar Association Current licensure as an attorney by the Missouri Bar Association Seven years of related work experience as a licensed attorney Selection and Appointment
A selection committee will evaluate qualifications, including education and experience relevance, supplemental questions, employment references and other information. Only candidates with the most job-related qualifications will be admitted to interviews. The interview will comprise 100% of the earned grade, and a qualifying grade of 70 or more is required to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews, candidates may receive a Conviction Questionnaire; candidates have 3 days to complete it. The top five ranking candidates will be certified to the Department Director/ Appointing Authority for final decision. All applicants offered a merit position will be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment, with screening costs covered by the County. How to Apply
