Be among the first 25 applicants. KPMG’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) is currently seeking an Associate General Counsel to provide legal support for the Firm’s Litigation group, specifically on the Practice Protection Team.

The OGC seeks a senior attorney to handle civil litigation and regulatory matters related to the Firm and its professionals.

Responsibilities

Provide counsel on actual and threatened civil litigation where the Firm is a party, regulatory investigations or inquiries, or responses to subpoenas or other legal processes involving the Firm.

Represent KPMG and its professionals in civil litigation and regulatory matters, and advise Firm leadership on issues arising in those proceedings.

Develop, implement and manage strategies to defend litigation claims and regulatory investigations toward cost-effective resolutions.

Supervise and collaborate with outside counsel and OGC colleagues to deliver high-quality legal representation.

Report to and consult with the Vice Chair for Legal, Risk Management and Compliance/General Counsel, the National Managing Principal for Legal and Regulatory, and the Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Investigations on litigation matters.

Develop financial projections and ensure cost-effective matter management.

Qualifications

Minimum fifteen years of experience handling complex civil litigation and regulatory investigations in well-regarded law firms, in-house departments, or at regulatory agencies (SEC, PCAOB, DOJ). Experience involving accounting and auditing issues is strongly preferred.

JD or LLM from an accredited law school and active bar license in the U.S., including the state of the office location.

Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines with strategic thinking and the highest ethical standards.

Strong analytical, writing, oral advocacy, interpersonal, and client counseling skills; C-Suite presence.

Experience leading legal teams; experience managing outside counsel a plus.

Proven collaboration skills and ability to build cross-functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
