Overview

After two years as a non-registered electrical engineer, would you like to use your experience to review and approve someone else\'s plans instead of preparing them yourself? The Department of Planning & Permitting, Building Division, is looking for independent Electrical Engineers who can review and approve moderately difficult plans and specifications for a variety of residential and commercial buildings, including electric vehicle charging stations and photovoltaic devices. It is your responsibility to ensure that electric projects assigned to you comply with accepted electrical engineering practices, electrical codes, and pertinent ordinances. If you qualify for the position, your name will be placed on an eligible list for further consideration. This list may be used to fill current and future vacancies in this and/or other departments.

Education Requirement

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor\'s degree in an engineering specialty. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. A foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided to receive credit. We reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.

Verification Requirement: You must submit evidence of your education in order to be given credit. If selected for the position, you must submit a copy of your diploma, official transcript showing the embossed seal, or applicable FCE prior to hiring. Education requirements must be met at the time of application. All information on your documentation must be legible and complete in order to be given credit.

Experience Requirement

Two (2) years of non-registered professional (post-bachelor\'s degree) electrical engineering experience.

License Requirement

Possession of an appropriate valid driver\'s license, as required.

In addition to meeting the above minimum qualifications, your application will be further evaluated. Your score will be based on the quality and quantity of your education, experience and/or other related job requirements and competencies applicable to the position. Failure to provide sufficient information may result in your application being rejected or your receiving a lower score.
