Overview THE POSITION Tiburon Peninsula Club (TPC) is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Assistant Swim Team Coach to support our Swim Team Director with daily practices, stroke development, and team operations. This role works closely with youth swimmers of varying ages and abilities, helping foster skill progression, teamwork, and a positive, safe environment. Typical availability needed is weekday afternoons/early evenings (e.g., ~3:00–7:00 pm) with weekend availability for meets and special events.

Responsibilities

Safety first: Prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic incidents; complete required reports promptly.

Coaching & instruction: Lead and assist training groups; teach proper stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and race strategies under the direction of the Swim Team Director.

Water polo coaching: Support youth water polo practices and games, focusing on fundamentals, teamwork, and competitive strategies.

Practice support: Help plan and run engaging workouts appropriate to age and ability; set up and break down equipment (lane lines, clocks, goals, balls, etc.).

Meet operations: Assist with meet warm-ups, on-deck coaching, entries and timelines (as assigned), and positive athlete management at home and away meets.

Team culture & communication: Model sportsmanship; communicate clearly with athletes and parents regarding expectations, schedules, and progress (as directed by the Swim Team Director).

Compliance & standards: Enforce all Club and pool rules while providing exceptional service to members and guests.

Administration: Track attendance, support roster management, and other coach-assigned administrative tasks.

Club collaboration: Attend staff meetings and fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Swim Team Director and Wellness Director.

Requirements

Experience: At least 1 year of coaching or competitive swimming experience (private club experience preferred).

Certifications: Current CPR/AED and First Aid required; Lifeguard and/or USA Swimming coaching credentials preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Skills: Motivated, reliable, and patient with children of all ages; strong communication and organizational skills.

Physical demands: Ability to demonstrate skills from deck and occasionally in water; lift up to 25 pounds as needed.

Background check: Ability to pass a background check if required.

Professionalism: Upbeat, polite, and friendly demeanor with a high level of responsibility and accountability.

Compensation $35 – $45 per hour DOE
