Overview
Position Overview The primary purpose of the position is to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Defense Civilian Training Corps (DCTC) program. The DCTC Project Director will ensure the program aligns with university objectives and defense training requirements. This role involves supervising the DCTC Project Coordinator, managing day-to-day operations, and collaborating with key stakeholders to maximize the program's effectiveness and impact. Primary work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional evenings or weekends may be required.
Organizational Context North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an 1890 public and land‑grant, doctoral higher research (R2) institution and one of 17 constituent institutions of the UNC System. The university is the largest historically black college or university (HBCU) in the nation by enrollment and has a strong research profile, with a focus on STEM, business, health and human sciences, arts and humanities. The Office of the Vice Provost for Engagement and Outreach provides strategic leadership for campus operations and connects engagement, extended learning, and outreach into a cohesive program.

Responsibilities and Requirements Minimum Requirements
A Master’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Candidates must have at least five years of program management experience, ideally in higher education, defense, military training, or related fields. Proven leadership experience with strong strategic planning, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in project management and financial tools, as well as experience in grant writing, management, and budgeting. The role also requires demonstrated experience in leading complex programs, supervisory experience, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will possess a Master’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field and at least seven years of program management experience (PMP preferred), ideally in higher education, defense, military training, or related fields. They should meet all minimum qualifications for the position.
Required License : NC Driver's License
Additional Information Remote Work : This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies.
