Overview

We are a leading California-based labor and employment law firm with more than 120 attorneys, and we are seeking a Legal Applications Specialist to join our forward-thinking IT department. What you’ll do

Deliver expert support for the firm’s core applications, including document management systems, litigation/e-discovery tools, financial systems, collaboration platforms, and desktop productivity software. Act as an escalation point for complex application issues, performing root cause analysis and recommending long-term solutions. Collaborate closely with internal team members and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve problems while keeping end users informed. Oversee the full lifecycle of applications: packaging, deployment, upgrades, and eventual decommissioning. Configure and maintain authentication, system integrations, and user permissions with an emphasis on security and usability. Monitor application performance and system availability, taking proactive steps to minimize downtime. Use SQL and other reporting tools to develop custom reports and integrate data from systems such as Aderant. Contribute to planning, documentation, and execution of software updates, and recommend enhancements to improve workflows and reporting. Draft and maintain clear technical documentation, procedures, and compliance records aligned with departmental standards and change control processes. Provide targeted training to attorneys and staff on best practices for using firm applications. Participate in after-hours maintenance windows, system rollouts, and urgent support needs as required. Perform other technology-related tasks as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in application support, preferably in a legal or professional services environment. Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or a related discipline—or equivalent hands-on experience. Strong familiarity with accounting and financial systems; prior work with Aderant Expert is highly desirable. Proficiency with SQL Server, including writing queries and managing databases. Experience in SharePoint administration; development experience is a plus. Working knowledge of PowerShell or similar scripting tools to automate tasks. Hands-on experience with managing or integrating legal applications such as iManage Work, Relativity, Litera, CompuLaw, BigHand, Microsoft 365, CAM, Intune MDM, and Zoom. Understanding of ITIL principles and best practices for service delivery. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a service-oriented mindset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of bridging technical and non-technical audiences. Proven ability to handle multiple priorities effectively in a fast-moving environment. Willingness to provide occasional after-hours support for projects or urgent needs. Compensation
