Overview

Provide the full scope of primary care services which fall under the physician's field of training, including diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care and health maintenance for patients of all ages. A Primary Care Physician is a member of the NWMH team and is expected to be familiar with the organization’s philosophy, goals and objectives, and to work collaboratively to achieve them. They must comply with all policies and procedures as well as pertinent state and federal regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Obtain health history and perform physical examinations. Diagnose and direct counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment. Prescribe medication in accordance with Oregon statute and professional practice guidelines. Perform minor surgical procedures. Arrange referral for patients requiring services not offered at NWMH. Review incoming reports (e.g., lab, x-ray, EKG), sign, date and follow-up in a timely manner. Comply with the NWMH Infection Control plan which includes personally utilizing universal precautions and ensuring compliance by support staff. Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings. Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested. Assist in outside medical public relations functions. Adhere to NWMH productivity standards and meet at least the minimum requirement. Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises students in training at NWMH as assigned by the Medical Director. Supervises mid-level practitioners (physician assistants and nurse practitioners). Supervises support staff and ensures they are providing safe and effective care (medical assistants or patient services staff). Qualifications

Current Oregon State Medical License Current D.E.A. Certificate Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine. If Board Eligible at the time of hire, must be Board Certified within 3 years of hire date. Insurability (malpractice) Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) ACLS or Advanced Life Support within 12 months of employment, if appropriate Physical Requirements
