Overview
Sr. Physician Assistant - Oncology Infusion role at UC San Diego Health. Established in 1978, Moores Cancer Center is the region’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The PA will provide patient care oversight for infusion center patients, including management of toxicities and/or reactions to IV treatments. Direct supervision will occur by assigned medical oncologists. Primary work location is McGrath Outpatient Pavilion with coverage across Moores Cancer Center infusion locations in Hillcrest. Responsibilities
Provide patient care oversight in the Infusion Center, including management of toxicities and reactions to IV therapies. Perform initial history and physical examinations, identify major medical problems, and formulate appropriate plans of action in collaboration with supervising physicians. Demonstrate knowledge of common diagnostic tests, exams, and procedures used in a clinic setting; document medical charts accurately. Manage own patient load and coordinate care for patients undergoing cancer and non-cancer treatments, including clinical trials, bone marrow transplantation (BMT), chemotherapy, biologic and immunotherapies. Support a range of therapies and treatment modalities under the direction of the Medical Director of the Moores Cancer Center Infusion Center. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate from a Physician Assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). California PA license. Current PA Certification from NCCPA. Current ART certification, or BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to obtain ART within six months of hire date. One or more years of recent experience as a licensed Physician Assistant in heme/onc, infusion, and/or internal medicine with a focus on hematologic or oncologic conditions. Theoretical background in anatomy, physiology, general medicine, pulmonary, emergency and critical care medicine, therapeutics including pharmacology, and related areas. Ability to perform history and physical, identify medical problems, and plan appropriate actions; knowledge of common diagnostic tests and procedures; accurate documentation. Strong time management and ability to manage own patient load. Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of Oncology Infusion or Hematology Oncology experience with strong internal medicine background as a PA. Special Conditions
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Must obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges and maintain during employment. Clinical advanced practice experience must be within the last two years. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Pay Transparency
Annual Full Pay Range: $153,259 - $201,889 (prorated if appointment percentage
