The Information Technology Division is an internal service organization responsible for providing information technology based products and services in support of the Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) agency business priorities. Under the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the IT Security Services (ITSS) unit’s mission is to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of agency-wide IT assets and data, including all critical business applications. ITSS provides agency-wide technology risk analysis to identify, prioritize, and guide risk reduction activities. About the Role

This Security Architect position reports directly to the Chief Information Security Officer and supervises a team of journey and entry level staff as the Security Team Supervisor. If chosen for this role, you will provide expert level IT Security Architecture and organizational leadership across all security-related domains agency-wide. You will apply your broad range of knowledge and experience to guide senior management decisions and solve the most complex technology problems related to technology, development, and the security infrastructure of the agency. Responsibilities

Supervise, coach and mentor professional IT Security team within IT Security Services, to include evaluating employee performance and coaching and mentoring staff for growth and development opportunities. Information Technology security Architecture, including:

Recommend appropriate security technologies and practice that align with business and compliance requirements. Develop IT strategic plans and technologies towards targeted Security Architecture.

Security and Architecture reviews, including:

Create security reviews processes, security assessments, risk analysis and implementation and testing of new technologies and proposed solutions. Plan and design security architectures for proposed solutions under the model of confidentiality, integrity, availability, and compliance. Describe requirements for network security, authentication and authorization for all IT systems and data. Ensure implemented solutions comply with agency and state requirements while following the overall IT strategic direction. Identify security requirements based on the privacy, confidentiality and data classification.

Risk assessment, regulatory compliance and policies, including:

Create and maintain artifacts that comprise the agencies security program which include policies and standards. Identify and document threats, attack vectors, and an overall threat landscape. Maintain artifacts on non-compliant solutions and technologies

IT security strategic planning, including:

Create a strategic vision for IT security. Identify technologies or methodologies missing from current IT frameworks and provide recommendations on suitable and compliant solutions.

Required

Ten (10) years of professional customer service focused IT experience

Four (4) years

of your IT experience must include at least two (2) security focus areas listed below:

Database Security Mainframe Security IT Security Architecture Application Security Patch Management Network Security Desktop Security Secure Software Development Lifecycle Anti-Virus/Anti-Spam & User Provisioning/Access Control

AND at least four (4) years

of your experience must include at least two (2) security strategic services focus areas from the following:

Security Architecture Security Assessments Vulnerability Scanning IT Project Management Security Reviews Security Analysis Firewall Management Threat Management Intrusion Detection Prevention Security Information & Event Management

Note: Education may substitute year for year for IT experience up to four (4) years for a Bachelor’s degree and up to two (2) years for an associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a closely related field Desired

Certifications such as CISSP, Network Security, Security +, CHE Knowledge of: PCI, OCIO, IRS, CIS, NIST Knowledge and experience with TOGAF and/or SABSA Things You Need To Know
