Overview

We are seeking a Software Development Manager specializing in JD Edwards World systems. The right candidate will be responsible for managing enterprise application development and leading technical teams in a fast-paced environment. This role involves overseeing JD Edwards projects, system administration, and technical team leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage employee work assignments, time tracking, recruiting, and assist with employee development. Lead JD Edwards World development projects focusing on modules such as Purchasing, Accounting, and other relevant areas. Oversee AS400/IBM i system administration including user/group profile maintenance, file journaling, subsystem maintenance, and object authorities. Manage unit testing, end-to-end testing, validation in development environments, and defect resolution. Collaborate with team and management on JD Edwards enhancements, requirements, technical designs, and project status. Review and oversee RPG/LE, CLP/LE, SQL, and DDS code development for correctness and quality. Manage business unit security, menu creation/modification, user setups, action code security, and function key security. Utilize debugging tools (e.g., STRDBG, STRISDB, JDEDBG) for problem resolution. Approve estimates and assign tasks to the software development team. Manage Data Dictionary maintenance, menu operations, and library list control. Execute IFS commands and use IBM scheduling tools for job management. Write comprehensive program specifications and technical documentation. Ensure knowledge transfer and provide design documents for documentation/training purposes. Conduct all business professionally and ethically to support organizational goals. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and mentoring. Required Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of JD Edwards World application development experience. At least 2 years in a supervisory capacity overseeing JD Edwards projects. Technical Skills JD Edwards World 7.3 expertise in: Purchasing, Accounting, and other relevant modules. Sleeper and Dream Writer tools; World Writer; Data Dictionary; Menu operations. AS400/IBM i system administration: user/group profile maintenance, file journaling, subsystem maintenance, object authorities, IFS commands, scheduling tools. Programming Languages: RPG/LE, CLP/LE, DDS, SQL, QMQRY, SEU. Debugging and Development Tools: STRDBG, STRISDB, JDEDBG. Professional Skills Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to write detailed program specifications for developers. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent customer service and relationship skills. Proficiency with MS Office and email applications. Willingness to work on-site full-time. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Close and peripheral vision abilities required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Experience in full life-cycle JD Edwards development environment. Industry experience in construction, manufacturing, or other relevant sectors. Seniority level
