We are seeking an experienced

Staff Software Engineer

with deep expertise in both backend and frontend technologies, and a strong understanding in Trust and Safety domain. This hands-on role requires exceptional coding skills, architectural vision, and the ability to mentor engineers. You will define and maintain technical architecture, Drive seller trust and Safety roadmap for Walmart Global Tech. What you'll do

Guide and mentor a team of engineers, conduct code reviews and lead design discussions to ensure engineering best practices. Act as a technical authority, providing direction and expertise in backend, frontend, and related technologies. Drive the adoption of coding standards, design patterns, development best practices, and agentic frameworks. Architectural Leadership:

Lead the creation and maintenance of our technical architecture, align it with business goals, scalability, and agentic adoption. Architect complex software systems (data/backend), ensuring performance, security, and scalability needs are met. Software Craftsmanship:

Consistently produce high-quality software with a focus on unit testing, regular code reviews, and continuous integration; uphold high standards in quality and operational excellence. Technical Documentation:

Develop comprehensive technical documentation and presentations to communicate architectural decisions and agentic design options; ensure documentation aligns with project scopes, milestones, and deliverables. Engineering Advocacy:

Promote and enforce technical standards across the organization to achieve concrete outcomes; foster a culture of learning and innovation through hands-on technical guidance and mentorship. Project Leadership:

Lead the discovery phase of major projects; collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scopes and milestones. Cross-functional Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with Product Management, UX/UI, Quality Assurance, and DevOps teams; communicate complex technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Innovation and Research:

Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, especially in agentic frameworks and Gen AI, conducting research to identify emerging tools and methodologies. What you’ll Bring

Deep domain expertise in building and scaling Trust and Safety systems in the payment or e-commerce domain. Ability to tackle highly ambiguous problems of trust and safety by working with multiple business products and technology stakeholders. Experience with large-scale, distributed data platforms capable of supporting high-throughput, low-latency transactions across fast-access data stores, graph databases, and big query stores. Strong experience with real-time data streaming frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming) to enable anomaly detection and event-driven architectures at scale. Proven ability to design and scale decisioning and ML inference platforms to handle high transaction volumes with sub-second latency while maintaining accuracy and reliability. Expertise in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Scala, Go, and familiarity with cloud-native platforms (GCP BigQuery, Azure). Familiarity with risk modeling, fraud detection, anomaly detection, or decisioning systems is highly desirable. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (risk, data science, product, compliance) and translate business requirements into technical design. Strong ownership in designing, coding, and delivering core components of the platform while contributing to architectural discussions and mentoring peers.
