Tax Senior Manager

to join our growing Tax team in San Jose. This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional with deep technical knowledge, proven client management experience, and a passion for developing people. As a Tax Senior Manager, you’ll oversee complex tax engagements, serve as a subject matter expert, and provide strategic tax guidance to a diverse client base. You’ll also play a key role in practice development, staff mentoring, and representing clients before taxing authorities. This is an opportunity to step into a highly impactful leadership position while working in a collaborative, hybrid environment. Responsibilities

Review and approve tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corps, and C-corps. Lead technical tax reviews and manage government tax examinations of any complexity. Serve as a subject matter expert in specific disciplines or industries. Manage large, complex tax returns, delegating work to preparers as needed. Build and maintain strong client relationships, assuming responsibility for client service delivery. Represent clients before federal and state taxing authorities. Mentor, recruit, and develop staff, including performance evaluations and professional training. Ensure smooth and timely flow of tax returns through the preparation process. Oversee billing and collections processes with accuracy and timeliness. Conduct tax research, evaluate software, and provide recommendations to partners. Contribute to practice development through networking, community involvement, and referral source engagement. Qualifications

710 years of public accounting experience with progressive tax complexity and research expertise. Minimum 2 years experience representing clients before taxing authorities. At least 1 year of supervisory experience managing tax preparers. Bachelors degree in Accounting required; Masters in Taxation preferred. Strong proficiency with tax preparation, research, and planning software. Up-to-date knowledge of current federal and state tax laws. CPA license required; must be in good standing with the AICPA. Commitment to at least 40 hours of continuing education annually. Ability to balance multiple deadlines and manage peak workload (overtime required, especially January-April).
