Loyola University Chicago is seeking an Assistant Professor to:

teach undergraduate and graduate courses on literature and critical theory;

conduct research on Native American literature;

publish scholarship;

participate in scholarly conferences;

perform professional service (e.g., reviewing);

advise students;

serve on PhD examination and dissertation committees; and

serve on departmental committees.

Up to 15% domestic and international travel required. Up to 30% remote work allowed.

Qualifications

PhD degree in English Language and Literature or related field plus 1 year related experience.

Prior experience must include: Curriculum development for North American Indigenous literature and treaty histories;

Transcribe two literary manuscripts, which were unpublished materials from archives;

Research Indigenous Literatures and methodologies from Canada and the United States;

Teach Indigenous Literature from Canada;

Teach Indigenous Studies from Canada.

Full time: $62,000.00 - $85,000.00/year

Salary Range (Additional Information) This salary range is for a nine-month academic appointment. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, experience and qualifications, degree timing, training, field or discipline, budget availability, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs. Salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances.
