Vice Chair for Research – Neurology The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine’s Department of Neurology is recruiting a visionary Vice Chair for Research (VCR) at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (tenure-eligible or non-tenure track). The VCR will serve as the department’s senior scientific leader, crafting and executing a multi-year research roadmap that advances basic, translational, and clinical discovery in stroke, epilepsy, cognitive neurology, neuro-immunology, and bioinformatics. Reporting directly to the Chair, the VCR will maintain an active, externally funded program while mentoring faculty and trainees toward sustained NIH, DoD, industry, and philanthropic support. The role includes oversight of laboratories, clinical-trial units, and stewardship of regulatory compliance, and cultivation of interdisciplinary partnerships across the OU Health Sciences Center. Recently, the department welcomed a new Chair of Neurology who brings a forward-thinking vision and commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and research. This leadership change signifies an exciting new chapter for the department, aimed at further strengthening our clinical programs, expanding research initiatives, and enhancing educational opportunities for residents, fellows, and students. Together with the support of OU Health Physicians and the OU Health System, the Department of Neurology is poised to continue its trajectory of excellence, serving as a leader in neurological care for Oklahoma and bey. Responsibilities and expectations

Lead the department’s research strategy and help secure sustained external funding from NIH, DoD, industry, and philanthropy. Oversee laboratories, clinical-trial units, and regulatory compliance. Cultivate interdisciplinary partnerships across the OU Health Sciences Center and mentor faculty and trainees toward scholarly productivity and career advancement. Qualifications

Candidates must hold an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD in Neurology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline and demonstrate national reputation through sustained peer‑reviewed funding and high‑impact publications. Proven success in leading interdisciplinary teams, mentoring early‑career investigators, and, if clinically active, eligibility for Oklahoma medical licensure and ABPN certification are required.
