Position Description Summary :

The George Washington Medical Faculty Associates’ Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation medicine is seeking a physician or non-physician scientist for the position of Vice Chair of Research. The sought Vice Chair for Research is a visionary and dynamic leader. This senior leadership role is critical to advancing our mission to become a nationally recognized center of excellence in neurological research. The Vice Chair for Research will shape the department’s research trajectory, mentor the next generation of clinician-scientists, and foster collaborative, interdisciplinary initiatives. The appointment, expected to begin as early as Fall 2025, will be at the rank of associate or full professor, and a competitive start-up package will be provided to support the successful candidate’s research program. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Specific Duties and Responsibilities :

The Vice Chair for Research will play a pivotal role in positioning the Department of Neurology as a leader in innovative research, ultimately transforming care for patients with neurological disorders, and will share our ambition and are ready to lead with creativity, passion, and vision. Responsibilities

conducting independent research aligned with the department’s academic vision, securing extramural funding from federal, industry, and philanthropic sources, establishing new research initiatives with a focus on translational and clinical science, providing mentorship and faculty development through structured programs, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration with basic science and clinical departments, overseeing research operations including resource management and regulatory compliance, advocating for the department’s research mission, and engaging with the community and philanthropic partners to support research initiatives. Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be an MD, PhD, or MD / PhD with a distinguished research record in a relevant field of neurology and demonstrated success in securing extramural funding and leading research teams. Applicants must have a strong track record of mentorship and faculty development and display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and unite diverse stakeholders. Applicants must also commit to fostering an inclusive and equitable research environment. Advertised Salary
