Overview
As a Senior Database Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of critical database systems. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure data infrastructure is efficient, secure, and scalable. You will leverage your deep expertise in database technologies to optimize performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement best practices for data management within a mortgage lending environment. Responsibilities
Expertise in SQL Server 2022 Administration & Architecture Deep knowledge of SQL Server installation, configuration, security hardening, and performance tuning for enterprise workloads. Proven experience designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions, specifically SQL Server Always On Availability Groups. Proficiency in PowerShell for SQL Server Automation Write robust, idempotent PowerShell scripts to automate SQL Server configuration, including setup, security principal management, and maintenance tasks. Hands-on experience with the dbatools PowerShell module (highly preferred). Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Database Hosts: Define, design, develop and manage AWS infrastructure for SQL Server using Terraform. This includes authoring Terraform configurations for EC2 instances, performance-tuned EBS volumes, Security Groups, and IAM Roles required for the database hosts. Practical Knowledge of AWS for SQL Server Workloads: EC2 (instance types, placement groups), EBS (gp3/io2), S3 (for backups), and networking fundamentals; cost optimization strategies for database workloads on AWS. Systematic Multi-Environment Deployment Strategy: Build and manage repeatable deployment processes across multiple environments (Dev, QA, Prod) with parameterization techniques in Terraform (.tfvars) and PowerShell to handle environment-specific configurations and secrets. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field. Hands-on experience in SQL Server administration and architecture. Proven expertise with SQL Server 2022, including installation, configuration, HA/DR, and performance tuning. Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting for SQL Server automation; experience with dbatools highly preferred. Experience designing and managing AWS infrastructure for database workloads using Terraform. Deep understanding of AWS services related to SQL Server deployments and cost optimization. Demonstrated ability to manage multi-environment deployments with parameterization and automation. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to operational excellence. Required Skills
