Overview
Senior Accountant, Technical Accounting at Kraft Heinz. The Senior Analyst, Technical Accounting will play an integral role in the Company’s financial leadership team regarding technical accounting matters related to US GAAP. The role supports GAAP compliance by analyzing and implementing accounting guidance, developing and maintaining global accounting policies, and determining proper accounting treatment for complex and non-routine transactions. It may also assist in other significant projects (e.g., acquisitions, divestitures, new policies, complex transactions, training initiatives, ASU adoptions) with exposure to many stakeholders in the finance organization. The ideal candidate must be versatile, proactive, and able to manage evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with Company policy and US GAAP in areas including revenue recognition, rebates & incentives, contract accounting, leases, investments, consolidation, vendor financing, and goodwill/intangible assets
Partner with accounting, finance, and other functions to understand the nature of complex transactions and outline the resulting accounting outcome
Prepare accounting position papers summarizing our position on complex transactions
Review contracts to identify and resolve potential accounting implications
Support internal, external, and SOX-related audits
Assist External Reporting Team with SEC filings where necessary
Monitor US GAAP and SEC developments and evaluate impacts of new accounting and reporting rules
Maintain company accounting policies and collaborate with SMEs to periodically review and update as needed
Assist with projects related to M&A activity, accounting and reporting
Collaborate with internal and external resources to develop training content for global finance & accounting organizations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) with emphasis in SEC engagements and technical accounting research
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules
Experience with Hyperion Financial Management and SAP is a plus
Excellent analytical, teamwork, client service, and leadership skills
Proven ability to research accounting topics and draft position papers
Experience reviewing contracts to determine accounting impacts
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, global environment
Detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and organizational skills
Strong work ethic and communication skills
