Supervisor of Accounting

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Supervise, oversee, and provide guidance to accounting staff on all TIF-related matters, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with City policies and applicable regulations.

Manage and organize the City's annual TIF audit process, including preparation of supporting documentation and coordination with external auditors.

Collaborate with the City's annual citywide financial audit by preparing and reviewing schedules, reconciliations, and responses to audit inquiries.

Coordinate with the Director of Accounting on day-to-day operations of the DOF-GA-TIF subunit, including matters related to property taxes, TIF accounting, and pension contributions.

Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and audit requests to ensure integrity of financial records.

Facilitate necessary payments related to TIF surpluses, pension contributions, and other obligations in accordance with statutory and contractual requirements.

Monitor, analyze, and report on the City's TIF and pension financial activity, ensuring accuracy and consistency with budgetary and financial reporting standards.

Interact and serve as liaison with non-DOF departments and external stakeholders to resolve TIF-related concerns and ensure effective information exchange.

Ensure schedule alignment, workload distribution, and operational coverage of the accounting team; provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluation of staff.

Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, and internal controls to enhance efficiency, compliance, and transparency.

Accommodate ad hoc accounting and reporting requests as necessary.

Serves as a liaison with other City departments to facilitate information exchange.

Additional duties may be required for this position.

Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a

Bachelor's degree in Accounting

or a directly related field with

15 semester hours in Accounting , plus

four years of professional accounting experience

of which

one year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position ; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, provided that the minimum requirement is met.

Desired Skills

Proficiency using Oracle or similar accounting software

Proficiency using Microsoft Excel

Previous government auditing experience

Previous experience working with Auditor's

Previous experience preparing financial statements

Previous account reconciliation experience

Previous experience preparing journal entries
