Description
We are currently seeking a Locum MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Osteopathic Doctor) with a specialty in Emergency Medicine. In this role, you will provide temporary medical services to healthcare facilities in Fredericksburg. Your expertise in emergency medicine will be vital in ensuring quality patient care and efficient emergency response. As a Locum MD or DO, you will be involved in emergency medicine projects, responding to acute medical needs, stabilizing patients, and collaborating with healthcare teams to deliver timely and effective treatment. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in emergency care while gaining valuable experience in diverse medical settings.
Responsibilities
Respond to emergency medical situations promptly and provide immediate care to patients.
Assess patients\' conditions and determine appropriate treatment plans.
Perform medical procedures as necessary, such as intubation, wound care, and suturing.
Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Document all medical interventions, patient progress, and treatment plans accurately.
Adhere to medical protocols, guidelines, and safety standards at all times.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff members to address concerns and provide updates on patient status.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases and treatment strategies.
Requirements
Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
Board certification in Emergency Medicine.
Valid state medical license and DEA registration.
Proven experience working in emergency departments or urgent care settings.
Strong clinical skills and ability to make quick, accurate decisions in high-pressure situations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Flexibility to adapt to different healthcare settings and schedules.
Schedule: 7a-7p or 7p-7a
Facility: Standalone emergency department, fully equipped trauma bay, 11 private treatment rooms
Fully integrated with nearby medical center
Patient Census: 8,500 annually, 23 daily
Must be board-certified or board-eligible
Paid travel & expenses
