Overview

The Student Support Compliance Specialist role is an integral part of the Student Support Team, ensuring full compliance with all federal and state regulations at the campus or school levels. This is a full-time, headquarters school-based role that involves traveling throughout the school day to various campuses with an anticipated start date of July 2025. The starting salary range for this role is $78,436-$85,256. Our work is grounded in a commitment to excellence, equity, and justice. About the Role: This role is ideal for someone with excellent attention to detail who can explain processes to others. You will ensure KIPP DC’s overall compliance with student support services regulations is 100% compliant. You will work closely with student support services staff, special education teachers, and school leaders to ensure students with individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans are set up for success with 100% compliant paperwork. Location and Type of Work: This is an exempt position reporting to the Associate Director of Student Support Compliance. Schools operate in person; the role requires on-site presence during regular work hours. Benefits & Compensation: The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $78,436-$85,256. Responsibilities

Drive Compliance (40%)

Support and train case managers to abide by IDEA and local regulations

Provide technical assistance to staff to comply with the ADA and Section 504

Ensure student support services staff abide by IDEA and local regulations

Oversee compliance of student support services files (100+)

Own scheduling and holding IEP, SEP, Eligibility, and 504 meetings in a timely manner

Maintain 100% compliance in the special programs special education database system

Provide PD and support to case managers (30+ teachers) to gather and analyze data prior to requesting evaluations

Work with school psychologists and related service providers to ensure timeliness of assessments

Coordinate accommodations on state and local testing with school teams

Collaborate with the case manager and Director on due process actions

Support KIPP DC attorneys and attorneys representing students with disabilities

Coordinate Medicaid-related documents dissemination and collection

Coordinate alternate assessments for students with disabilities

Provide technical support and training on the Special Programs system

Chair Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) (40%)

Facilitate and serve as Local Education Representative in MDT meetings

Support case managers/chairs in complex cases, including legal representation

Take comprehensive notes and monitor notes; record dissenting opinions

Review monthly reports on outstanding IEP documentation

Provide technical assistance so case managers have proper paperwork for meetings and follow-through is timely

Ensure Academic Progress (10%)

Ensure IEPs comply with federal and district regulations and that goals are standards-based

Facilitate data-based discussions to design IEPs that support student growth

Perform Other Related Duties (10%)

Serve as the face of the student support team at your campus

Distribute weekly memos and facilitate department meetings

Conduct professional development for staff as needed

Attend professional development activities to stay current in student support services

Manage projects assigned by the Student Support Director of Compliance

Participate as a full-time staff member in school activities and recruitment efforts

Requirements & Preferences Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

At least 3 years of relevant special education experience and a master’s in related field OR at least 3 years of special education case management experience

Experience teaching special education

Certified in special education or hold a master’s in special education

Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders throughout a school

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading complex special education meetings

Self-starter with customer service and relationship management skills

Physical Requirements

Ability to travel across KIPP DC schools
