Leading the day-to-day operations of the City of Beverly Hills Community Services Department, the Assistant Director works closely with the Director applying best practices to accomplish the Community Services Department-wide goals, programs, and projects. Under the leadership of the Director, the Assistant Director will plan, organize, manage, and carry out the activities and services of the Department’s four main areas: the Beverly Hills Public Library, Recreation Services (including recreation programs and events, parks, and facilities), Arts and Culture Services (including arts and culture programs, special events and facilities), and Administrative Support. The Assistant Director will lead and motivate the Department staff, ensuring the provision of excellent customer service and the effective coordination of a diverse workforce organized in various divisions and locations. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to guiding and supporting the work of the Department’s Recreation and Parks and Arts and Culture Commissions; representing the Department in the community, including verbal and written presentations to the City Council, municipal organizations, the Beverly Hills Unified School District, and community groups; establishing and ensuring the timely achievement of goals, objectives, and priorities of the Department; analyzing the economic feasibility of and community support for proposed projects and programs; and leading capital projects to improve community assets.
