Overview
This position is eligible for Recruitment/Relocation Incentives along with the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) and the Physician Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP). See benefits section below for more information.
Qualifications To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent
The degree must have been obtained from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
Approved residencies: (1) ACGME-approved, (2) AOA-approved, or (3) other residencies with a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee
Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency programs may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs); PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (not training license) and may be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis; PRPs are not independent practitioners and will not be privileged
Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may be appointed as PRPs

Duties
Recruiting for one experienced, highly qualified Board Certified/Board Eligible physician for the Primary Care Clinic at the Tomah Medical Center
Clinic hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (Federal holidays excluded)
Work assignments provided by the Associate Chief of Staff - Medicine Service; physician will have clinical privileges based on expertise
Work commences immediately upon completion of orientation
Collaborate with other physicians, advanced practice professionals, nurses, administrative staff, and allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive care to veterans
Be familiar with a computerized medical record system; participate in data entry and navigation of Windows-based programs; training on the system will be provided
Follow and meet all medical center policies, rules and regulations
Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
Serve as back-up Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) on a rotating basis
Act as a full team member of the interdisciplinary team serving VA patients
Provide history, physical examination, diagnoses, and initiation of medical treatment
Initiate and facilitate treatment and transfer in emergency situations
Conduct follow-up visits and coordinate diagnostic testing and medication adjustments
Refer patients to appropriate specialists and coordinate home health services as needed
Document assessments and plans of care in accordance with policies and procedures
Act as a clinical consultant and may serve as a supervising physician for physician assistants
Communicate and collaborate effectively with other providers to ensure continuity of care
Maintain knowledge of current clinical methods and comply with Medical Center policies and procedures
