The Family Practice Physician provides comprehensive family medicine services to patients of all ages and genders, within the scope of training and experience. The role may include participating in shared after-hours emergency call coverage, depending on community needs. Medical care must align with SEARHC policies, Medical Staff Bylaws, and nationally recognized standards of care.
Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities
Provide comprehensive primary care, including diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, care coordination, referrals, preventive care, and health maintenance for a dedicated panel of patients. Participate fully in shared urgent/emergent care on-call rotations. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services per SEARHC policies. Deliver an optimal patient experience through effective listening and communication skills, fostering long-term relationships. Engage in SEARHC quality improvement initiatives and assurance programs. Participate in provider and clinic meetings, as well as SEARHC medical staff functions. Education, Certifications, and Licenses
State of Alaska Medical License (MD or DO). Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Internal Medicine-Pediatrics. If eligible, certification must be achieved within 3 years of hire. Active, unrestricted DEA registration. Active SEARHC medical staff privileges. BLS certification. Knowledge
Principles and practices of primary care. Standards of care, EMTALA, HIPAA, risk management, medical ethics, and malpractice principles. Skills
Effective communication with staff and patients, demonstrating openness, respect, support, and collaboration. Abilities
Provide high-quality outpatient and emergency medical procedures. Provide clinical leadership, promote teamwork, guide midlevel providers, and resolve conflicts. Utilize electronic medical records and clinical technology efficiently. Communicate clearly, analyze complex situations, problem-solve, and implement clinical strategies effectively.
