The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting tasks in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Core responsibilities include: Processing accounts payable invoices, verifying W-9s, and preparing weekly check runs. Reconciling monthly deposits and completing monthly bank reconciliations. Preparing and posting journal entries, including fixed asset additions, disposals, and depreciation. Reconciling general ledger accounts and assisting with month-end and year-end close. Preparing month-end and annual fixed asset reports. Maintaining accounting files through copying, filing, scanning, and purging documents. Assisting with payroll processing as needed. Supporting the preparation of audit work papers and annual audit processes. Assisting with business license processing in the absence of designated staff. Performing other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (Associate degree in Accounting may be considered with relevant experience). 2+ years of professional experience in accounting or finance. Knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with accounting software and Paylocity a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Governmental accounting experience preferred but not required. Seniority level
