Patent Attorney

Job Overview: A respected law firm based in Miami, FL, is expanding its Intellectual Property practice and is seeking a seasoned Patent Attorney with a deep foundation in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical device technologies. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary patent team and support sophisticated IP matters across a dynamic portfolio of clients in the life sciences industry. Duties: Assess innovations for patent eligibility across various scientific fields Draft and submit patent applications to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Manage the prosecution of U.S. patent filings and coordinate with international representatives for foreign applications Contribute to due diligence reviews and patent portfolio development strategies Perform technical and legal research related to patents and other intellectual property matters Partner with legal teams, business stakeholders, and clients to devise and refine IP strategies Serve as a point of contact for collaborative initiatives with internal and external legal professionals Requirements: At least 4 years of experience in patent prosecution within a law firm or corporate IP department Demonstrated background in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices Active member in good standing of at least one state bar Registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or eligible to sit for the exam soon Experience with mechanical or electrical technologies is advantageous Proven ability to navigate complex technical content in the life sciences domain Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within collaborative legal environments Education: Doctorate (Ph.D.) in a relevant life sciences discipline (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology) Certifications: U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registration (or eligibility to obtain) Skills: Scientific and technical literacy within relevant disciplines Skilled in patent drafting and strategic IP portfolio management Strong written and verbal communication abilities Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners High attention to detail and analytical thinking Job Location: Miami, FL Company info BCG Attorney Search 801 Brickell Avenue, Suite 900 Miami Florida United States 33131 Phone :
