: Research Scientist 1 Description: We are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team. The successful candidate will contribute to the investigation of machine learning (ML)-driven protein therapeutics. About us: Lila Biologics, a recent start-up originating from the Institute for Protein Design at the University of Washington, leverages machine learning-driven protein design methodologies to develop innovative therapeutic candidates for a diverse range of diseases and indications. Responsibilities Include: Bioconjugation HPLC purification LC-MS analysis Method development Protein production (E. coli and mammalian), purification, and QC Ensuring day-to-day operations of the research lab Qualifications and Education Requirements: B.S./B.A. or M.S. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or similar discipline and 5+ or 2+ years, respectively, of hands-on experience with bioconjugation and characterization (e.g., antibody, miniprotein, and/or peptide coupling to small molecules, macrocycles, and/or toxins). Deep working knowledge of method development, purification, and analysis using HPLC, LC-MS/MS, and MALDI-TOF. Competent in molecular and cellular biology including cell culture, biological sample handling and preparation, nucleic acid extraction and analysis. Familiarity with protein production in E. coli and mammalian expression systems. High level of diligence and attention to detail in experimental design, documentation, and work ethic. Highly motivated and enjoy working in a multidisciplinary and fast-paced environment, both independently and in a team setting. Well-organized, dedicated team member with excellent communication skills capable of coordinating technical activities with minimal supervision. Ability to troubleshoot and think creatively. Applicant must be authorized to legally work in the US. Preferred Skills: Experience with high-throughput, library-based screening would be a plus (library selection, phage display, yeast display, cDNA display, liquid handler-based experiments, etc.). Familiarity with analytical protein assays (BLI, SDS-PAGE, SEC, etc.) is highly desirable. Use of sequence analysis software (Benchling, Geneious, python, etc.).
