As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will be working closely with software architects and engineers from the various cloud service teams to build secure services and infrastructure that are fundamentally sound and efficient. Your influence over the design of the full system architecture is critical. You should be familiar with all levels of the software, hardware, and network stack; while having a deep knowledge in a few. Intellectual curiosity and an excitement for solving complex problems of complex systems is a must. You should value simplicity and usability as well as security and work comfortably in a collaborative, high-paced, agile environment.
Overview You will define specifications for significant new projects and design & develop software according to those specifications. You will perform architectural and drive software development tasks associated with the designing, developing, scale test and operational-ready software applications or operating systems. You will provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products, services, and processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommending and justifying major changes to existing products/services/processes will be a key aspect of this role. A qualified candidate will have a BS or MS degree, with 10 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
Responsibilities
10+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
Strong knowledge of Java and/or Python.
Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix fundamentals.
Advanced knowledge of Terraform is a big plus.
JavaScript frameworks such as React is a big plus.
BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Career Level - IC5.
