About the role
Position: Description: What You'll Do and Who You'll Work With: Reporting directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for electrical engineering design aspects of capital projects, facility upgrades, electrical design support for planned outages, and design requirements related to equipment troubleshooting, as well as business development/expansion projects at various operating facilities. This position will also lead, manage and execute multiple electrical projects/programs in the network. The Engineer will provide subject matter expertise and lead cross functional teams while driving technical standardization as a guardian of certain Electrical Design Standards for Reworld. Acting as a mentor for more junior team members, the Engineer will share best practices and technical expertise. This role has high visibility and direct impact; will act as a primary Electrical Engineering SME to the business. Location/Travel: Preferred location is Morristown, NJ Headquarters. This position requires close collaboration with corporate functions and facilities and will include approximately 20% travel across the network. Travel to domestic locations as well as Low-Cost Countries (LCC) such as China may be required. A remote work option is available with some additional travel to Morristown and across the network. Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design (Core Responsibility): Independently develop/review/approve electrical system design documents including One Line/Three Line Diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, arc flash, short circuit & voltage drop calculations, coordination studies. Develop scope of work for Electrical AE firms and coordinate with suppliers and contractors. Plan design tasks so design and construction are achieved within budget constraints and schedule. May assume duties of technical lead for small to medium capital programs. Electrical design scope includes system design, scope development, engineering calculations, specifications, and risk assessments for HV/MV systems. Engineering Standards (Core Responsibility): Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment to adapt and modify for engineering design. Guardian of key electrical design standards/specifications as SME for Reworld Electrical Team. Update design standards and specifications periodically to keep up with industry best practices and regulatory developments. Commissioning/Startup: Provide SME design support to Project Managers on assigned construction projects; provide engineering support for commissioning and installations for assigned design projects. Troubleshooting/Problem Solving: Provide electrical engineering design troubleshooting support to plant operations; analyze electrical failure root causes and develop cost-effective technical solutions. Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; 10+ years of engineering experience. Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain licensure preferred. Experience with high, medium, and low voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation in large utility power plants or large industrial facilities or design/architectural engineering firms; ability to work on multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision. Proficiency in One Line/Three Line Diagrams, DC control schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings related to interconnections, substations, power plants and electrical aspects of process plants including motors, MCCs, PDCs and other electrical equipment; voltage ranges from HV (>100 KV) to LV (480 V). Experience with protective relaying schemes (Medium Voltage) including coordination and development of relay settings; SEL relays experience highly preferred. Proficiency in engineering software such as CAD/AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM Powertools, SEL Acselerator, etc. Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to analyze data, write technical reports, and develop work packages to implement recommendations while handling multiple assignments.
