Overview Actuary - Reserving will be responsible for supporting reserve reviews and related activities, including communication to stakeholders, ad-hoc projects and process improvement efforts. Reports to the Head of Reserving – Casualty.

Responsibilities

Perform reserve reviews under the direction of the Head of Reserving - Casualty and prepare related reports, summaries, and ad-hoc analyses/views of results.

Interact with stakeholders including finance, claims, underwriting and pricing to determine holistic views of reserves.

Assist in the preparation of the year-end reporting, including Actuarial Opinions, Actuarial Reports, and other GAAP and statutory regulatory reporting.

Evaluate current approaches and propose improvements to all stages from data collection to final reporting, with the goal of automating and increasing efficiency of the reserving department.

Assist in the development and training of other Reserving staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related field of study.

5+ exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society pursuing credentials.

5+ years of property/casualty experience, preferably with commercial lines.

Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences including executive management.

Ability to execute and lead concurrent projects.

Ability to work independently, but collaborate effectively within a team.

Detail-oriented with ability to evaluate information accuracy quickly.

Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with SQL, R, Python or VBA; experience with ResQ preferred.

Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this role is provided for specific geographic areas and commensurate with experience. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
