This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. To qualify, applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA physicians who met previous qualification standards at initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
Completed residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification
Enrolled residents in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred: Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Psychiatry
Physical ability to perform essential functions, with or without accommodations
Duties
This is an open continuous announcement until September 30, 2025, or until all positions are filled. Initial application cut-off is August 30, 2025, with biweekly subsequent reviews.

Responsibilities include ensuring quality and safety of care, monitoring and evaluating care quality, patient satisfaction, safety, risk management, and utilization management.
Maintains records of meetings, supervises prescribing staff, develops policies, reviews privilege templates, supports staff time and attendance, and oversees programs within the section.
Serves as a consultant, plans research programs, and assists in treatment implementation.
