Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who meet the initial appointment standards are deemed to meet the basic requirements. Basic Requirements: U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available) Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Completed residency training approved by the VA or equivalent Enrolled residents in approved programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) Proficiency in spoken and written English Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Psychiatry Physical requirements include moderate lifting, carrying, pushing, reaching, use of fingers, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, and vision/hearing standards Duties

This is an open continuous announcement until September 30, 2025, or until filled, with initial review cut-off on February 28, 2025. Provides comprehensive psychiatric services including assessment, psychotherapy, medication management, and crisis intervention. Serves as a mental health team leader and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams. Participates in supervision, teaching, research, and quality assurance initiatives. Provides leadership and consultation to staff and trainees. Ensures timely documentation and participates in performance improvement. May be eligible for recruitment and relocation incentives.
