Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

– La Rabida Children's Hospital, Chicago, IL La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring a full-time Speech Language Pathologist for the Developmental and Rehabilitative Services in Chicago, IL. Responsibilities

Provides professional speech-language pathology services in accordance with the standards established by the professional association and other relevant regulatory requirements. Selects appropriate evaluation tools, administers, and interprets findings correctly. Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with patients, families, doctors, payers, other professionals, and team members. Treatment is safe and effective. Demonstrates cost effectiveness, using extenders (aides) and materials appropriately. Acts as an effective team leader and maintains a family-friendly approach. Shows knowledge of hospital and community resources; develops education materials as needed. Serves as an effective educator. Adapts to the family’s needs and level of comprehension. Documents patient care in a timely and complete manner in accordance with department, organization, state, and federal regulations. Maintains proactive communication with all members of a patient’s team and closes all communication loops. Ensures referrals are appropriate and follows up as necessary. Functions at the role-model level as both Team Leader and Team Member. Advocates for patients as needed and goes above and beyond. Completes letters of medical necessity. Develops and monitors care plans. Completes daily billing activities. Participates in department, team, and committee meetings; presents and attends case presentations and in-services. Engages in education activities for other departments, within the hospital, and for the community. Provides supervision and training to allied health professional students. What We Need From You

Education: Master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Science or equivalent required. Related Work Experience: Graduate clinical practicum required; pediatric practicum experience and hospital experience preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current Illinois licensure (or license pending); ASHA CCC early intervention credential preferred, eligibility for EI evaluation credential. Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Communicates effectively; reflects the values of La Rabida in all interactions; demonstrates accountability, problem-solving, and leadership skills; bilingual skills (Spanish & English) preferred. CPR Required: Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted. Compensation

Pay Range: $72,000 – $90,000 What You Will Receive
