The Anesthesia Technician II position assists the anesthesia provider in delivering patient care to pediatric surgical patients in a safe and organized manner. The technician prepares equipment and work areas in all anesthetizing locations throughout the hospital for procedures requiring anesthesia. They must be able to set up, operate, and maintain monitoring and anesthesia equipment to support complex cases, including cardiac and trauma cases. The technician is responsible for maintaining supplies and equipment in all anesthetizing locations and stocking anesthesia supplies in carts at the point of care. The position description covers the core responsibilities of the role. Other related duties not specifically mentioned may also be performed, depending on operational needs. As a member of the Perioperative Surgical Team and under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or anesthesiologist, the technician supports anesthesiologists, anesthesia assistants, and trainees in patient care across various anesthesia-providing locations. They may also assist with patient transport and environmental services as needed. Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED (Required). Completion of an approved anesthesia technician curriculum or CNH Anesthesia Technician curriculum (Preferred). Minimum Work Experience 3 years as an Anesthesia Technician (Required). 1 year Pediatrics, Trauma, and Cardiac experience (Preferred). Required Skills/Knowledge Human relations and interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace Ability to collaborate with the anesthesia team in developing patient care plans Assist in setting up anesthesia equipment and supplies, ensuring all equipment functions properly before use Understand sterilization verification, packaging integrity, and supply management Serve as a clinical resource and support peers Use supplies cost-effectively to prevent waste Required Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) upon hire (Required) ASATT certification (Preferred) Functional Accountabilities Maintain and organize anesthesia environment and supplies Prepare operating rooms and off-site locations, including equipment setup and calibration Track and return specialized equipment after use Consult the anesthesia team to determine equipment needs and troubleshoot as needed Assist with establishing, monitoring, intubation, extubation, and arterial cannulation Assemble, clean, and stock anesthesia equipment; troubleshoot machines and monitors Follow aseptic techniques and infection control standards Clean and maintain anesthesia machines and related equipment Document and report equipment malfunctions Assist with patient transport to the OR Promote safety and handle sharps and infectious materials properly Follow protocols for disinfection, specimen handling, and OSHA standards Participate in emergency situations and ensure readiness of supplies and equipment Maintain communication clarity and professionalism
