The community of Estevan, located in Southeast Saskatchewan, is actively recruiting a Family Medicine Physician with enhanced surgical skills to support surgical needs in Estevan and Weyburn. In addition to providing 1-2 days/week of surgical services, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide additional services such as community primary health care, inpatient and long-term care, and emergency room coverage. The candidate will participate in a 1:3 rotation for on-call surgical services as part of the surgical team. St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan is fully accredited, featuring two operating theaters, a labor and delivery ward, a 24-hour emergency room, inpatient units, a diagnostic imaging department with a CT scanner, and a dialysis unit. The successful candidate may be eligible for: Relocation funding (return of service required) – please inquire for details. The Family Medicine Resident Bursary Program, which provides up to $75,000 over three years for family medicine residents and R3 program candidates working full-time in rural, regional, or northern Saskatchewan. The SMA Retention Fund, offering financial rewards ranging from $7,000 to $14,000 annually for physicians practicing in the province for extended periods. The ideal candidate will be professional, have excellent communication skills, thrive in a team-based environment, and demonstrate a commitment to patient- and family-centered care. The minimum qualifications include: Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. Acceptable enhanced training in surgical skills (e.g., 3rd-year residency in FM-Enhanced Surgical Skills). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Valid driver’s license. Successful Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) credentialing, including reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector. Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage.
