Family Physician - Anesthesia (Contract) vacancy in Estevan, Saskatchewan. Vacancy #: 2024-25-269836; Number of Vacancies: 3; Vacancy Opening For: Family Physician. Employment Type: Permanent; Employment Term: Full Time. Posting Date: July 22, 2025. Closing Date: December 31, 2025 23:59. Hours of Work: 220 weekdays per year (excluding statutory holidays, 8 hours per day) plus 1:3 specialist call. Salary: Minimum $475,596.00; Maximum $475,596.00. Method of Payment: Contract. This position will remain open until filled and may be filled prior to the posted closing date.
Responsibilities
Provide 1-2 days per week of anesthesia services in Estevan and Weyburn.
Offer additional services such as community primary health care, inpatient and long-term care, and emergency room as applicable.
As a member of the surgical services team, participate in an equitable on-call rotation for anesthesia services in a 1:3 schedule.
About the Hospital St. Joseph's in Estevan is a fully accredited hospital with two operating theatres, a labor and delivery ward, a 24-hour emergency room, an inpatient unit, a diagnostic imaging department with a CT scanner, and a dialysis unit.

The Family Medicine Resident Bursary Program which provides up to a maximum of $75,000 over three years to family medicine residents, and those pursuing R3 programs who will work full-time in rural, regional, or northern Saskatchewan.
The Rural Physician Incentive Program (RPIP) which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practicing, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in Saskatchewan.
The SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year.

Certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan
Acceptable enhanced training in anesthesia (i.e. 3rd-year residency in family practice anesthesia)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Valid driver’s licence
Successful Saskatchewan health Authority (SHA) credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
Legal entitlement to work in Canada
