The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to serve as a Cardiologist. The selected faculty member will participate in both inpatient and outpatient services, to include night and weekend call coverage. Opportunities to participate in echocardiography and other aspects of non-invasive imaging are present to the extent that they are desired. Opportunities abound to work with house staff, fellows, and physician extenders. Education and clinical research will be available as well based on experience and expertise.
Responsibilities
Develop a robust outpatient clinical practice with three (3) one-half day clinics per week initially at the downtown practice site and satellite locations. Staff Fellow's clinic on an as-needed basis.
Participate in the Inpatient CCU, Ward and Consult Services and reading ECGs.
Participate in the Echo Lab, CT, Nuclear and cardiac MRI reading schedules as interests and training allow. Weeknight and weekend call and echo reading pools are shared equally among cardiology imaging faculty.
Participate in structural echocardiographic imaging training as needed to assist with TAVR, MitraClip and Watchman procedures.
Participate in night and weekend call coverage at all hospitals and in-patient cardiology services as needed and similar to colleagues.
Generate work RVUs at or above the 65th percentile for a non-invasive cardiologist as reported by the UHC Faculty Practice Solution Center and adjusted for assigned clinical FTE.
Participate in the teaching activities of the Division in support of medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows while on Cardiology Consult Services.
Actively participate in faculty meetings and outreach activities which may include short trips to meet with referring physicians, groups or hospitals.
Engage in scholarly activities, such as clinical/translational research; publish case reports, review articles, etc.; support a productive program of scholarly activities among trainees and junior faculty.

Required Qualifications MD ,
Board certified ,
Board eligible , completion of cardiology fellowship
Assistant Professor — Early level career with appropriate postgraduate training
Associate Professor — Mid level career with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience
Professor — Senior level career with at least five years at rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience
Consistent with SACSCOC requirements for institutional accreditation
Evidence of ability as a teacher
Evidence of scholarly activity and ability in all other duties
Successful experience (waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements)
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, biographical data, and recommendations
Shift/Salary/Benefits This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment (FTE) is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to availability of funds. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Eligibility for the Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment may apply.
Rank and salary are determined at hire and depend on factors including experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, internal equity, and market data. Advancement through faculty ranks occurs via the annual Promotion and Tenure process (typically five-year increments).
