UNC Health is seeking a clinical faculty member to join our hospitalist practice at the large regional campus in Wilmington, NC. This multi-specialty academic practice and children’s hospital is part of an innovative partnership between UNC and Novant Health to provide specialty care to children from communities throughout southeastern and coastal NC. The Novant Health – New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH-NHRMC) facility and Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital is a full spectrum community-based, children’s hospital that serves as the tertiary care children’s hospital for southeastern NC. This position is a clinically focused position in a regional community children’s hospital with a strong connection to a large academic group and quaternary children’s hospital. Candidates must be BC/BE in General Pediatrics. Experience and BC/BE in Pediatric Hospital Medicine is preferred but not required. This is an open rank, full-time faculty position, on the fixed term track. Salary benchmarks will be at private/community levels. Responsibilities
Provide inpatient care for newborns, children, and adolescents, including admission, ongoing care, and discharge with 24/7 in-house coverage. Newborn care includes circumcisions and does not include attending deliveries. Provide services including emergency department consultation and surgical co-management. Teach and evaluate Family Medicine residents, UNC medical students, and UNC PHM fellows. Collaborate with the hospitalist team in Wilmington, which includes seven other full-time hospitalists and five advanced practice practitioners. Explore leadership opportunities within the group based on interest and experience. About NH-NHRMC Campus
At NH-NHRMC, there are approximately 4,200 deliveries per year and 2,700 admissions with referrals from multiple centers in the region. Inpatients are admitted to the hospitalist service with subspecialist and surgeon consultation as needed. Pediatric care includes neonatology, pediatric surgery and anesthesia, pediatric critical care, cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, and other related specialties. The campus features an eight-bed pediatric ICU and an eighteen-bed pediatric acute care floor, with over sixty faculty and advanced practice providers. The UNC-NH partnership is expanding clinical and research activity at the Wilmington campus, with growth of the UNC School of Medicine campus and up to 60 medical students located here for 3rd and 4th years. MD or DO required; Pediatrics residency in an accredited program. Board certified/eligible in General Pediatrics and/or Hospital Pediatrics (experience in Pediatric Hospital Medicine is preferred but not required). Application Instructions
