Position Summary:
The faculty physician is responsible for patient care in hospitals and clinics, as well as research, education, and advocacy initiatives as directed by the Division Chief and/or Center leadership. Qualifications: Minimum Education:
Medical Doctor (M.D.) from an accredited medical school (Required) Minimum Work Experience:
0 years (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge:
Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment; understanding of legal and ethical standards; ability to evaluate patient problems independently; ability to incorporate ethics into patient care; supervision and training skills; commitment to Continuing Medical Education; knowledge of legal and ethical standards. Required Licenses and Certifications:
Fully licensed and credentialed as an attending physician at Children’s National Medical Center; Board certified or eligible for certification in primary specialty; Secondary specialty certification preferred. Responsibilities: Clinical Care:
Provide ethical, professional, and timely patient care; oversee medical team; manage patient care; participate in family-centered care; communicate professionally; utilize chain of command and escalation policies; respond promptly to team and external providers. Advocacy:
Engage in advocacy initiatives; contribute to public policy; educate patients and families; participate in health promotion programs. Research:
Conduct meaningful research; review manuscripts; publish; seek research funding; participate in research committees. Education:
Participate in medical education programs; supervise and train professionals and students; provide feedback; ensure proper orientation. Quality & Compliance:
Follow policies; complete documentation; identify and suggest improvements; participate in policy development; evaluate care protocols; report errors. Organizational Accountabilities: Respond to customer needs; demonstrate respectful collaboration; contribute to a positive work environment; optimize resource use; promote safety; communicate clearly; practice self-check behaviors.
