LOCATION : There are several positions located in Canon City, CO. This posting will be used to fill future vacancies at this location. Job Summary This full-time position provides routine and emergency dental care, assessment, diagnosis and treatment to offenders incarcerated in the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC). Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Provide professional diagnosis and treatment of oral pathology for offenders in routine and emergency settings Provide dental care including diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal, endodontic, oral surgery, and prosthetic services Develop individual patient treatment plans in accordance with agency and professional standards Diagnose and treat dental disease or refer offenders to specialists as needed Participate in restraining an offender primarily for medical reasons if required Communicate with outside providers and internal peers to ensure continuity of care Collaborate with other health care professionals regarding offender health issues, transfers, classifications and medical-legal concerns Participate in decision-making committees to resolve system issues Assist in developing policies, protocols, standards or guidelines Maintain offenders health records including dental holds, special diets and work restrictions Respond to offender grievances Participate in daily dental clinic operations including infection control, hazardous materials and exposure control regulations Plan workloads and schedules for self and subordinates Maintain compliance with relevant statutes and professional standards in dentistry Provide input to supervisors on dental unit policies, procedures, treatment standards, and budgetary needs Provide clinical guidance and direction to dental assistants and supervise clinical tasks as required by law Provide daily guidance for appointment scheduling to maximize efficiency Educate patients on preventative care and self-care, including hygiene and post-procedure care MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Licensure : Applicant must possess a current, valid Dentist license issued by the Colorado Dental Board.
