Overview
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine is expanding its faculty and broadly recruiting in bacteriology, immunology, and virology. We seek applicants at all levels with outstanding research programs. Areas of interest include infection and cancer, host/pathogen interactions, HIV/AIDS, emerging pathogens, cancer immunology, and autoimmunity. We are particularly interested in applicants with a translational focus and have an established funded research program. Applicants will be expected to establish their research program in the outstanding environment of our disease-focused Centers, particularly the Center for AIDS Research and the NCI-designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent, and should be able to effectively contribute to both the research and teaching missions of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Quality research facilities, significant start-up funds, and salary support will be provided commensurate with the rank.
Responsibilities
Establish and lead a funded and productive research program.
Contribute to the teaching mission of the Department and mentor students and trainees.
Collaborate within the Center for AIDS Research and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and participate in other disease-focused initiatives as appropriate.
Develop and sustain translational research activities with a focus on infection, cancer, and immune-related diseases.
Qualifications
Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent required.
Ability to contribute to both research and teaching missions.
Strong track record in a relevant field with a funded research program; translational focus preferred.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; potential for leadership.
