Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan repayment initiative. Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The program's award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after reviewing the application. Applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Those pending completion of training or licensing may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Existing VA-employed physicians who initially qualified under previous standards are deemed to meet the current basic requirements. Basic Requirements: U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable, per VA Policy. Degree: Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent from an accredited school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs at the time of graduation. Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S., its territories, or the District of Columbia. Residency: Completion of an accredited residency in a core specialty leading to eligibility for board certification, approved by the VA Secretary. Residency programs include ACGME, AOA, or equivalent non-US programs with at least five years of verified practice in the U.S. Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis. PRPs are not independent practitioners and will not be privileged, but may perform certain duties under supervision. Surgery residents in gap years may also serve as PRPs. Duties

Provide direct patient care and clinical guidance within the Urology section. Participate in service improvement initiatives and programmatic activities. Manage all aspects of medical care, including evaluation and treatment of Urology patients, and support residents and mid-level providers. Assess physical and mental status changes, document progress notes, and coordinate care with other providers and facilities. Ensure barriers to care are minimized to promote a positive environment for Veterans and staff. Foster positive relationships with staff, peers, and Veterans. Perform consultations, provide clinical care, and contribute to education and research as appropriate. Work hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
