This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient-centered care by performing a wide range of services and skills, while focusing on customer service. These tasks include, but are not limited to, medical coding through coding systems, ABN, imaging production, HIPAA, consent to release guidelines, and maintaining a high level of written and oral communications, including the use of the MARTII for non-English speaking patients. Job Duties
Process orders in Right Fax, enter orders in Epic, upload orders from Right Fax into Epic, and link orders to proper scheduled exams. Validate orders for Imaging Center and Hospital for same day, next day, and two days out. Review future appointments, call office to request orders for appointments, and monitor and work off of Appointments without Orders report. Process Radiology ROI (release of information) and enter releases in Epic. Properly prepare radiology images onto a CD storage device, ensuring the validation of images on the device prior to release. Support position coverage at Imaging Center location, performing all MIC duties at this site and ensuring log in to call center. Participate in the training of Radiology Students to ensure completion of student checklist. Be proficient with PACS, Isite, hospital-wide computer system, CD burning of radiology images, Powerscribe, scheduling, Right Fax, Cisco phone, and paging systems. Log into phone call center and utilize software for call management. Demonstrate proficiency with managing electronic images for MMC and other facilities' utilization within radiology, Operating Room, and ancillary departments. Adhere to consent to release guidelines for imaging records and HIPAA guidelines by obtaining accurate authorization to release information. Perform scheduling notification of emergent and urgent patient exams for diagnostic testing, including coordinating communication between central scheduling and modality areas, prioritizing time-sensitive and urgent level data. Administer Advanced Beneficiary Notification as warranted (ABN). Seek clarification from provider when imaging order is incomplete or unclear to ensure medical compliance and accurate medical billing of procedures. Assign ICD codes based on local medical review policy (LMRP) or National Coverage Determination (NCD) guidelines, utilizing medical coding and validation of medical necessity. Ensure that all accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated with patients, their families, and co-workers at handoffs and other times as needed. Take all measures necessary to ensure that the appropriate and involved parties have communicated necessary information to allow for the best possible patient outcome. Department Specific Duties

One year experience in medical field or secretarial position preferred. Experience in medical terminology, anatomy, and ICD-9 and CPT coding preferred. Knowledge of medical or diagnostic procedures preferred. Experience using Microsoft Office applications preferred. Education
High School diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of accredited medical secretarial training program preferred or one year experience in a hospital or medical setting preferred. Licensure, Certification, Registration
Required: Basic Cardiac Life Support certification in accordance with American Heart Association. Physical Demand Requirements
