Req#: 9461 This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient-centered care by performing a wide range of services and skills, focusing on customer service. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, medical scheduling, medical orders, Advance Beneficiary Notification (ABN), image transfer, HIPAA compliance, consent to release guidelines, and maintaining high standards of written and oral communication, including use of MARTII for non-English-speaking patients. Job Duties
Ensure accurate and clinically relevant communication with patients, families, and co-workers during hand-offs and other interactions to support optimal patient outcomes. Assist providers with radiology ordering processes, seeking clarification when orders are incomplete or unclear. Administer ABN as warranted. Coordinate scheduling notifications for emergent and urgent diagnostic tests, ensuring effective communication between central scheduling and modality areas. Adhere to consent to release and HIPAA guidelines by obtaining proper authorization for information release. Manage electronic images for MMC and other facilities, becoming proficient with hospital radiology computer systems. Participate in training radiology students to ensure completion of their checklists. Process Radiology Release of Information (ROI) and enter releases into Epic. Prepare radiology images on CD storage devices, validating images prior to release. Validate orders for imaging at the Imaging Center and hospital for same-day, next-day, and upcoming appointments. Monitor and work off the Appointments without Orders report, requesting orders as needed. Process orders via Right fax and Epic, uploading and linking them to scheduled exams. Accuracy in oral and written communication. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to multitask amidst interruptions. Strong public relations skills and good judgment. Ability to work well within a diverse team. Professional Experience
One year of experience in the medical field or secretarial position preferred. Experience with medical terminology and anatomy preferred. Knowledge of medical or diagnostic procedures preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office applications preferred. Education
High School diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited medical secretarial training program or one year of hospital/medical setting experience preferred. Licensure, Certification, and Registration
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required, in accordance with the American Heart Association. About the Company
