Biochemistry and Molecular Biology – Associate Professor (Tenure Track)
Position: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology – Associate Professor, Tenure Track. The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and the Dr. John T. MacDonald Foundation Biomedical Nanotechnology Institute, are seeking a tenure-track Associate Professor to complement our research community. A degree in Biochemistry or a related field is required. The candidate must be able to seek and obtain extramural funding (preferably federal) and publish in high-impact scientific journals. The faculty member will teach and mentor undergraduate, medical, and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows. The position includes establishing and managing an independent research program. A competitive start-up package will be provided.
Responsibilities
Teach and mentor undergraduate, medical, and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows.
Establish and manage an independent research program; obtain extramural funding (preferably federal).
Direct the 3D Prototyping and Biomaterials initiative to develop new tools for researchers, surgeons, and clinicians.
Collaborate with researchers across the Miller School of Medicine and the University to develop and translate research into practice.
Serve as Director for Basic Research in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery; coordinate with faculty and research staff to ensure high-quality proposals and competitive extramural funding from NIH, PCORI, PSF, and other sponsors.
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond the University to advance the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, and University of Miami research profile.
Qualifications
Degree in Biochemistry or a related field (required).
Ability to seek and obtain extramural funding, preferably federal funding.
Record of publishing in high-impact journals in relevant fields.
Experience teaching and mentoring at undergraduate, medical, and graduate levels.
Ability to establish and lead an independent research group.
